If you are tired of spending an arm and a leg on utilities,
ask your real estate broker to show you an adobe home or a rastra block home. These types of construction materials are more expensive and labor intensive to build; however, the payoff in the end is that you won’t pay thousands of dollars each year for heating and cooling costs. As consumers, we should also be willing to pay a little extra when purchasing a green home. If as consumers we aren’t willing to pay the initial price for the cost of going green, we won’t create a sustainable market. If the frame construction home with fiberglass insulation is your choice because it’s cheaper, it makes it very difficult for green homes to find their place in our market. Let’s have the vision to see that paying for green homes actually does make financial sense in the long run with lower utility bills and that the benefit it creates for our environment and our children’s futures is well worth it!
