This authentic New Mexico ranch is a hidden treasure, with sweeping mountain vistas and the privacy afforded by over a thousand acres of deeded and leased state land. Just a short distance from Galisteo – and close to all the amenities and comforts of Santa Fe - the main house has been beautifully renovated, with work completed in 2013. There is a pool area with an outdoor kitchen, a shower and bathroom, and a sports court. All of the bathrooms have been tastefully upgraded. La Jara Ranch offers a total of three homes and extensive equestrian facilities including a main barn; stud, hay and equipment barns; a workshop and over sized arena. There is also a bunkhouse with two bedrooms and one bath; a manager’s home with three bedrooms and two baths; and many other outbuildings. Throughout the ranch you will find several historic and geological sites including Anasazi petroglyphs, historic ruins and volcanic outcroppings, plus an orchard and a variety of fully-matured trees. Abundant water rights include a rare nine-acre Class A lake, three wells, ditch rights and 100 acre/ ft of surface rights from the meandering Galisteo river.
The 2,500 or so acres that comprise this area immediately south of Eldorado are part of the old Sebastian De Vargas Grant and include Lamy, Galisteo, Camino Valle Street, Los Caballos, Los Vaqueros, Old Road Ranch, Pinon Street, Ranchitos de Santa Fe, The Ridges and Cimarron. Lovely tree-covered artist and ranching villages are surrounded by gently rolling hills.
