Wonderful property with two homes located between Los Alamos and Santa Fe in the heart of the La Mesilla valley. Rural living on this wonderful piece of land in the heart of the traditional farming community of Northern New Mexico, with a main house, guest house and additional structure. Main house, set back from the road, is a mix of traditional adobe and Spanish hacienda with the newest technological comfort of solar panels. It is all adobe with double living rooms with fireplaces at either end. There are also a dining room, charming kitchen with wood burning stove and laundry room, and office/study. The 3 bedrooms, each with a door to a Spanish hacienda style portal along the side of the house, are off a passive solar hall-way. Flagstone floors are in the living areas with tile floors in bedroom areas. Behind the house there is a mature orchard (apples, plums and more), well-house and acequia. While the main house is settled into the back of the property, closer to the road is a 2 bedroom log house (which after a small improvement can be rented) with plank wood floored living room and flagstone floored kitchen. There is one more multi room building behind the guest house that can be used in multiple ways (now used as storage). If one is looking for a place with potential, look no further.
The areas to the north between Santa Fe and Taos possess some of the most spectacular and varied landscapes in New Mexico. Beautiful communities line the Taos Gorge and the Rio Grande like Espanola, Velarde & Dixon along what is called the ‘Low Road’ to Taos.
The ‘High Road’ is a scenic, winding road through the Sangre de Cristo Mountains that runs between Santa Fe and Taos.
